Privacy policy
This policy covers this website and the Strata Site Audit plugin. The short version: the website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, the plugin runs on your own server and contacts outside services only when you choose to, and payment is handled by Freemius.
This website
The site is static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts, and has no accounts or forms. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, requested page, time, browser) for operating the service, for a limited time.
Once Pro plans are on sale, the pricing page loads the Freemius checkout script, and the checkout itself is a Freemius page shown inside this site; Freemius may set its own cookies there. Freemius's privacy policy governs what happens there. We never see your card details.
Buying and licensing
When you buy Strata Pro, Freemius collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information to process the order, issue the licence and send invoices and renewal notices. We receive your name, email address, the plan bought and the sites the licence is active on, which we use to provide updates and support. We do not sell or share this information.
The plugin
Strata scans run entirely on your server. The results stay in your WordPress database. The plugin contacts outside servers only in the cases below, and only when you choose them.
- WordPress.org theme downloads. When you run the parent theme comparison, Strata downloads the release of your theme that matches its version from downloads.wordpress.org. Only the theme's slug and version are sent. See the WordPress.org privacy policy.
- Freemius. Licensing, checkout and the optional usage opt-in are handled by Freemius. If you opt in, or activate a Pro licence, details such as your site URL, WordPress and PHP versions, the plugin version and the admin name and email are sent to Freemius. Nothing is sent if you skip the opt-in. See the Freemius privacy policy.
- Slack (Pro). If you add a Slack webhook for alerts, Strata sends the alert text (site name, how many issues are new or resolved, the titles of the newest issues and a link to the results screen) to that webhook on Slack's servers. See the Slack privacy policy.
- Sites you link to (Pro). External link checks send a HEAD or GET request to each external address linked from your content, to see whether it still works. Private and local addresses are never requested.
The visitor 404 log (Pro)
Off until you turn it on. It records the path that returned a 404 on your site, the first referring address, how many times it was hit and when. The log stores no IP addresses, user agents or anything else about the visitor (a hashed address is held for one minute to limit floods, and never written to the log). The data stays in your database and is yours; you are the controller of it under data protection law, as for the rest of your site.
Support email
When you write to support we keep the conversation, including any site details you send, for as long as needed to help you and to improve the plugin. Please do not send passwords.
Deleting the plugin
Deleting Strata from the Plugins screen removes its database tables, settings and scheduled jobs on every site. Scan results only ever lived in your database, so nothing about your site's content remains anywhere. Your licence and purchase records stay in your Freemius account until you close it.
Your rights and requests
To ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted, write to support@example.invalid. For data held by Freemius, use your Freemius account or contact Freemius directly.
